If you only remember three commands from this whole chapter, make it these. They'll get you through 90% of the time.
/help — the "wait, what does this do?" 🟢
Shows a quick rundown of the main commands. It's the classic "where's the bathroom?": nobody ever got in trouble for asking.
Use it when: you don't know where to start or can't remember a command.
/help
/status — your agent's check-up 🟢
Acting weird, sluggish or a little scatterbrained? Before you start arguing with it, ask for a report. /status shows you the dashboard: which model it's running, how much memory it's "eaten," whether it has any half-finished tasks…
Use it when: something feels off and you want to peek under the hood before laying into it.
/status
/new — clean slate 🟡
Starts a fresh conversation, without dragging the old stuff along. Perfect when you switch topics completely and don't want the previous chat to "bleed into" the new one.
Use it when: you finish one thing and move on to something different.
/new
Tip: if there was anything important in the conversation, ask it "sum up the key points before we start fresh" before you hit /new. That way you don't lose the thread.
Two extras worth knowing
/commands🟢 — like/help, but with the full list of everything you can do in this chat./whoami(or/id) 🟢 — tells you your identifier. Sounds technical, but it's exactly what support asks for when they need to grant you permissions or sort out an access issue.
The pocket cheat sheet: Lost?/help. Acting weird?/status. New topic?/new.
